Frank K. Berry- Sponsor, Tournament Director (International Arbiter)
Frank Berry is an International Arbiter of chess and one of the major chess patrons in the United States, who has been supporting master-level chess for years. He sponsored and directed the 2007 U.S. Championships in Stillwater, Oklahoma, his home town, and is doing so again this year in Tulsa. He has been organizing tournaments for over 40 years, earning International Organizer and Associated National Tournament Director (ANTD) titles, and is also a chess historian, editor and collector. He was personal assistant for the late Grandmaster Eduard Gufeld in the 1990s in Los Angeles. Among his diverse other expert-level interests are music, and the architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright.
Jim Berry- Assistant Director, USCF
Jim Berry is a chess expert and a member of the Executive Board of the USCF. He is a member of the board of directors of Southwest Bancorp, Inc., a $2.2 billion bank, headquartered in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Jim Berry has served as a director of Southwest and Stillwater National since being appointed to the Board of Directors in June 1998. Since 1988, he has been the owner of Shading Concepts, which manufactures and sells solarium draperies. From 1973 to 1988, Mr. Berry was a stockbroker in Oklahoma City with a major Wall Street firm.
Tom Braunlich- Chief Organizer
Tom Braunlich is a master from Oklahoma who earned a rating over 2300 before quitting in the 1980s to pursue his career in game and toy design, in Seattle and Virginia. He helped design and market many commercial games, including titles for Star Trek and Star Wars. When he came back to chess in the 1990s he began to organize major events, including the popular Millennium Chess Festival in Virginia Beach, Virginia which has is one of the premier open events on the East Coast and which has run from 2000 to the present. After moving to Oklahoma in 2003 he has assisted with the events put on by the Berry Brothers. He also developed the annual Okie Chess Festival (which features master round-robins). He was tapped this year to do organize the 2008 FKB U.S. Championship Qualifier Open, as well as the championships themselves in Tulsa. He also is a writer with a degree in journalism, and an accomplished boater who has a merchant marine captain license from the U.S. Coast Guard and is active in the Coast Guard Auxiliary.

Zeljka has played chess for twenty years and has organized numerous chess tournaments. In the past two years she managed live broadcast at the World Open, the ECU Individual Chess Championship, the GibTelecom Masters, the Montreal International Category 16, the MonRoi International Women’s Grand-Prix, and the World Youth Chess Championship among many others. She holds a B.A. degree in Languages. Zeljka has published several academic papers and has been a speaker at international conferences. She is fluent in eight languages, and enjoys travel and interacting with chess players, organizers and chess fans around the world. At the 2008 FKB US Chess Championship, Zeljka will manage live game broadcast based on the MonRoi system and assist in event publicity.
