MONROI PCM - FOR EVERY CHESS PLAYER - AD
HIGH SCHOOL CHESS #3 PDF Print E-mail
Written by Alexey W. Root on Fri, Sep 20 2013 (18:34)

Dr. Root showed one example each of a fork, a pin, and a skewer to members of Denton High School chess club. Vice President Shawn J. wrote definitions of those tactics. Tactics are good for winning material, which then can lead to having a decisive advantage. Then Dr. Root showed the end of a game from Bronco night, where Black was ahead a queen and several pawns against a lone king but (instead of checkmating) promoted a pawn causing a stalemate. The moral was to finish off a game instead of promoting to extra queens.
