9 queens is sponsoring three Best Game prizes for the 2009 U.S. Women’s Chess Championship. I have been asked to be a Best Games judge because of my books on chess and my winning this tournament 20 years ago. After all the judges’ votes are totaled, the best game gets $300, second best $200, and third best $100. The tournament is held in St. Louis and I am in Denton, TX. But I follow each round using the Chess Games link at the top of the MonRoi page. The tournament continues through October 13. I have already seen some nice games, and only three rounds have been played so far. If there is a particular game you think I should take another look at, tell me about it in the comments area of this posting. |
And for the chess-player the success which crowns his work, the great dispeller of sorrows, is named "combination."
-Emanuel Lasker (1868-1941)
